Ferryhill Weather Useful Sites
OK, here's the links page. I've tried to keep the links a little unique and not just fall into the pattern of every other weather site on the net. The pages featured here are all easy to use and understand and my even be useful ! If you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to Contact Us (link on the main menu)
North East Diary
The North East Diary is a blog of mine keeping a log of projects, visits and goings on in the North East of England. There is
usually a weather theme running through, as well as webmaster and SEO stuff
Climate-uk
The website of much-respected climatologist and weather historian Philip Eden, containing a large range of statistical information including
analysis of how the current month is panning out (updated frequently; often daily) and his alternative continuation of the Manley CET series.
Virtual Tour of Ferryhill
Another site of mine, this one. A virtual tour of Ferryhill allows the visitor to move around the town and view details of it's history, along with current photographs of the noteable places. There's a guestbook to sign and leave your messages and wants. Please sign in and let me know what you think of the site.
Weather Charts
The Charts that are shown on the Farming Forecast on a Sunday afternoon are available here. You can view them up to 120 hours ahead. Very useful. OK, you need to be able to read weather charts, but the BBC only show the 5 day outlook a couple of times a week. Here you can check it out any time you like on this excellent Dutch site.
Archived Weather Charts
This is an archive of the charts detailed above. It's a German language site, but is very easy to use, you just choose the date of the weather chart you want to see. You can't really go far wrong. The charts go back as far as 27th January 1998.
Current Weather Conditions
You can find the current conditions at lots of different places around the uk by checking out the Weather Underground site. This not only gives Temp and Humidity, but you also get Dewpoint, Windspeed and Direction, Pressure, Conditions, State of the sky, etc. Brilliant !
Bonacina's Winter Snow Analysis 1875 - 2004
In an attempt to analyse each winter's snowfall events for the UK, a man called L.C.W. Bonacina produced this list, which I have tried to maintain and continue in recent years in similar style. See if you remember correctly !
The British Isles Weather Diary
Roger Brugge's British Isles Weather Diary contains a daily summary of UK weather data, with daily extremes of high temp, low temp, wettest and sunniest places. It is normally updated a couple of days in arrears and is archived back to 1999.
Pollen Research Unit
For those of you who happen to suffer from Hay Fever (and I include myself amongst this unfortunate group) then a site you may be interested in is this one at the Pollen Research Unit. There's all the information about Pollen that you could ever wish to know (but were afraid to ask) and you can also get a Pollen forecast, so you know when to hide.
Environment Agency Flood Situation
In view of the fact that Mother Nature seems to have decided that a substantial percentage of the population should, in fact, live underwater, we provide a link to this page. I know flooding isn't a big problem in Ferryhill but it's still a nice page to have instant access to.
BBC 5 day forecast for Ferryhill
The BBC 5 day forecast can be found here. It's not always the most reliable, but i've included it anyway.
