To the right of the photograph is the current Police Station and the building to the rear of that is K. & M. Printers. (probably better known by it's previous name of Blamires). This was formerly a Snooker Hall, known as 'The Den' at the western and of Church Lane.
Darlington Road was the original path of the Great North Road before 'The Cut' was built. The Black Bull Public House is an imposing structure to anyone travelling up into Ferryhill along Darlington Road.
