The view down Durham Road. The building on the left of the picture used to be the old Kings Head public house. This has now been converted to private flats. Further down the bank on the left was the Saddlers Arms (now a residential property).
The road leading off to the left in the mid distance led to Dean and Chapter Colliery. The site is now an Industrial Estate. The green landscaped area to the top of the photograph is all that remains of Dean and Chapter Colliery Pit Heap.
The road to the North from Ferryhill Village rapidly descends Durham Road to the junction with the A167. At the top of the bank on the right stand the new Doctors Surgery and Dental Surgery.
On the left hand side is a row of houses, then a building housing private flats. This was converted from The King's Head public house, which closed during the 1980s.
