Ferryhill Virtual Tour - A Pictorial Guide

Spooky Alley

In Medieval times, the village of Ferryhill needed to be defended, and this was made easier by making the access paths onto the fields very narrow with high walled openings. The pathway known as 'Spooky Alley' is an example of this that survives today. The pathway goes down a long narrow passage before emerging into the steeply sloping fields beyond. This particular path leads to Hett.
