At the top of Dean Bank are two crescents of bungalows built for retired Miners in about 1931/32. These are called the 'Joseph Patterson' and 'William Keers' Crescents. The bungalows were modernised in the 1980's, having a glass frontage added. This was regarded as good protection from the weather, which can be quite severe in winter along Merrington Road.
In front of the bunglaows is a large green.
