The school is now the Ferryhill Primary School, but it used to be known as The Secondary Modern School and housed everyone that hadn't been channelled to be educated at Ferryhill Grammar School (Merrington Road). Understandably, there was a great rivalry between the two schools. This was greatest in sport, but it wasn't unknown for big fights to break out between kids from these two schools !
