Dean Bank West End is known as 'The Villas'. The Villas (6 houses) were allocated to the Dean & Chapter Pit Deputies. Across the road from the Villas is a large house standing in extensive grounds, known as 'Dean Hurst'. This was where the pit Manager and his family lived.
On the same side of the road, further to the east, stands Westcott Terrace. This is where the Shift Foremen at the pit lived.
