Ferryhill Virtual Tour - A Pictorial Guide

The Mill

The Mill, Ferryhill, long associated with the Brass murders at High Hill House Farm in 1683. Legend has it that every New Year the ghosts of the murdered Brass children can be seen dancing around the Mill (see Darrell Nixon's website link below for more information).

Ferryhill Windmill was built in the 1840's from Limestone that was quarried locally. The Mill hasn't been used since 1903 when a thunderstorm undermined it's foundation. The Mill is just beside the track to High Hill House Farm but is now in a dangerous condition.

The mill was renovated in 2005, with the intention of converting it into a new dwelling. Photographs of the progress of this work can be seen at the North East Forum (follow a discussion thread below).
