In the foreground is one of the pieces of stone which greets the visitor on all roads into Ferryhill. They were carved for the Millenium Celebrations.
At the far North East corner of Ferryhill, the junction takes the traveller toward the steep bank down to East Howle to the North and along the west edge of the Ferryhill Gap to the south. The main North-South railway runs here, taking trains from Edinburgh to London.
