Ferryhill Virtual Tour - A Pictorial Guide

Cleves Cross

The road drops down into Cleves Avenue. Great views are over the plains towards Darlington and Teesside Airport. The line of the Cleveland Hills, the Northern Edge of the North York Moors, can be seen on the horizon. To the left behind the houses are the buildings of Duncombe Cemetery (opened in 1886). One of these is being converted to house the Ferryhill History Society, and will become a museum of the town's history and heritage.

Cleves Cross is a high point on the road running North from Ferryhill Station up Duncombe Bank. Extensive vistas to the east are of the Ferryhill Gap, opening to the North and South, and the Thrislington Quarry.
