Thrislington Quarry is an imposing sight on the east side of the Ferryhill Gap. The quarry mines Dolomite from a large pit to the east. The chimney is about 240 feet high. Ferryhill Carrs is just beyond the farmer's field in the foreground.
Cleves Cross is a high point on the road running North from Ferryhill Station up Duncombe Bank. Extensive vistas to the east are of the Ferryhill Gap, opening to the North and South, and the Thrislington Quarry.
